Part-Time Clinical Educator in Calgary

Job Description

Reporting to the Vice President-Operations, Western Region, the Clinical Educator designs, implements, evaluates, and revises educational and continuing education programs for retirement home staff.

Key Responsibilities

  • Development and ongoing coordination and support of an Orientation and Annual Education Plan that is site, zone and provincially focused tomeet legislative requirements and is congruent with the Vision and Values of Revera
  • Coordinate a monthly meeting schedule and site visits that provides the Alberta RN/LPN team with an environment that promotes learning, communication and fosters the development of staff
  • Identifying internal and external resources and utilizing them appropriately in the design, implementation, revision and evaluation of educational programs that meet the needs of the Retirement Program and AHS Supportive Living Model
  • Prioritizing the educational needs of Retirement staff based on CQI and Audit Outcomes
  • QI Tracking and Trending for all sites in Alberta with benchmarking to Revera and AHS QI outcomes
  • Support all Alberta sites in the timely development and/or revision of policies, procedures and clinical tools to align legislative standards with the Vision and Values of Revera
  • Promoting Revera Retirement by participating on external committees; including AHS Quality Service, Standards IP&C and Educator committee scheduled meetings
  • Engaging in ongoing professional development and clinical competency relevant to Retirement and educational role;
  • Maintaining current knowledge of and fully utilizing company Information Technology Systems and programs;
  • Upholding and promoting the organization’s values and philosophy relating particularly to ethics, morality, and integrity as set out in the Revera Code of Conduct;
  • Fostering a positive attitude that promotes the benefits of lifelong learning
  • Completing all other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Nursing or Bachelor of Science in Nursing Degree with current registration in good standing with the respective provincial regulatory body
  • Masters Degree in Nursing, Health Care, Education or related field an asset
  • Minimum five (5) years related clinical or educational experience, preferred in Retirement, Supportive Living, and/or seniors care
  • Must possess knowledge of regulatory body standards/guidelines, scope of practice, role of the unregulated care worker and applicable legislation, including AHS Funding Accountabilities, CCHSS and Accommodations Standards and Audit process
  • Knowledge of Adult Education principles
  • Ability to utilize both formal and informal teaching methods
  • Must possess good written and oral communication skills
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities
  • Must have computer skills using Microsoft Office applications
  • Must possess a positive working attitude and team building skills
  • Experience within the supportive living framework is an asset.
